MenuScanner ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Josh Jarrett. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our iOS application.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: Your name and email address, collected when you sign in via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In.
• Menu Photos: Photos you take or select from your photo library for the purpose of scanning and analyzing menus.
• Profile Photos: Photos you optionally select from your photo library to use as your profile picture. These are stored locally on your device only.
• Scan History: A record of your past menu scans and the analysis results associated with them.
• Location Data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location to find nearby restaurants and provide location-based recommendations. Location data is used in real time and is not stored on our servers.
• Subscription Information: Purchase and subscription status data managed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not collect or store payment details such as credit card numbers.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide AI-powered menu analysis and health insights.
• Maintain your scan history so you can revisit past results.
• Find and display nearby restaurants based on your location.
• Manage your subscription and provide access to premium features.
• Send push notifications about scan results and updates (with your permission).
• Improve the quality and accuracy of our service.
• Authenticate your identity and manage your account.

Data Storage

Your data is stored locally on your device and on secure Convex cloud servers. Profile pictures and app preferences are stored exclusively on your device. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

Subscriptions and Payments

MenuScanner offers auto-renewable subscription plans (Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly) to unlock premium features. All payments are processed securely through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We do not have access to your payment information — all billing is handled by Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.

Third-Party Services

MenuScanner integrates with the following third-party services:

• Google Sign-In: Used for account authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple Sign-In: Used for account authentication. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic AI: Menu photos are sent to Anthropic's API for AI-powered analysis. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: Used for subscription management. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Apple MapKit: Used for displaying nearby restaurants and location-based features. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Camera, Photo Library, and Location Access

MenuScanner requests access to your device's camera and photo library for capturing or selecting menu images for analysis and for setting a profile picture. Location access is used to find nearby restaurants. Notification permissions are used to alert you when scan results are ready. We do not access these device features for any other purpose.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. Upon account deletion, all of your personal information, scan history, and stored images will be permanently removed from our servers. Locally stored data such as profile pictures and preferences are also removed.

No Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We will never monetize your data in any way beyond providing the MenuScanner service to you.

Children's Privacy

MenuScanner is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the app and updating the "Last updated" date above.
